The Trump campaign released a statement following Tuesday’s vice presidential debate, declaring Sen. JD Vance’s performance as the “best” of any vice presidential candidate in history.
The glowing review comes following the CBS-moderated debate that was marked by a cordial discussion that included strong responses from Vance on the economy, border crisis and national security.
“Senator Vance unequivocally won tonight’s debate in dominating fashion. It was the best debate performance from any Vice-Presidential candidate in history,” Trump campaign spokespersons Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita wrote in the statement.
“Senator Vance spoke the truth, eloquently prosecuted the case against Kamala Harris’ failed record, and effectively held Governor Tim Walz accountable for his lies on behalf of the Harris-Biden Administration,” they added.
The statement specifically highlighted key Trump-Vance issues such as illegal immigration and manufacturing.
“Senator Vance also perfectly articulated the Trump-Vance vision to make America safe again with their plan to launch the largest mass deportation operation in history; to make America strong again with a peace through strength foreign policy agenda; and to make America wealthy again by cutting taxes, unleashing American energy dominance, and ending inflation,” Wiles and Civita noted.
The statement concluded that Vance “proved” why Trump selected him as his running mate, exuding confidence ahead of the Nov. 5 election.
“Tonight, Senator Vance proved why President Trump chose him as his running mate. Together, they make the strongest and most dynamic presidential ticket ever, and they are going to win on November 5,” they wrote.
Vance took to social media following the debate to remind Americans that Vice President Kamala Harris has been in power for three and a half years, calling for a new common sense government under Trump.
“Kamala Harris has been in power for the last 3.5 years. She opened the border. She cast the deciding vote on trillions in new spending. The border and affordability crisis is on her. Donald Trump, by contrast, governed with common sense,” Vance posted to X.
Even CNN pundit Scott Jennings admitted that Vance’s performance “outclassed” Walz.
“It’s pretty clear Vance outclassed Walz tonight. I was watching this and all I could think of was — can you imagine this guy sitting in the White House Situation Room with that facial expression that’s like 50% sheer terror and 50% extreme bafflement,” Jennings stated after the debate.
