President Donald Trump’s campaign team is now turning to specialized encrypted phones and laptops following multiple Iranian hacking attacks.
The devices were recently purchased through Green Hills Software, according to a Reuters report.
“The company sells a customized Android phone that comes pre-installed with its own unique operating system, stripping it of most functions aside from phone calling and text messaging, while implementing additional security controls,” Reuters reported.
Greens Hills also sent a press release on Oct. 1 to announce the new Trump campaign purchases.
“Most recent US election campaigns have been the victims of hack-and-leak operations. We owe it to our democracy to ensure that our elections are decided by the American people and not by foreign agents who wish harm to our country,” CEO Dan O’Dowd stated.
“We must also ensure that the same level of security and reliability used in nuclear systems be applied to voting machines, given their critical role in the electoral process,” he added. “Securing the integrity of the democratic process is paramount. Green Hills Software’s secure communications devices are already protecting the Trump Campaign.”
Green Hills Software claims that its phones are “unhackable” and its computers run on its proprietary INTEGRITY-178 operating system.
“INTEGRITY-178 is the world’s most secure operating system. It never fails and can’t be hacked. INTEGRITY-178B is used to secure the United States’ nuclear bombers such as the B-2 and B-1B, fighter jets such as the F-22 and F-35, and commercial airliners including the Airbus A380 and the Boeing 787,” the company stated.
Green Hills also noted that the FBI uses Green Hills Software’s unhackable laptops to protect field communications over insecure public Wi-Fi networks.
RSBN reported last month that the Justice Department charged three Iranian men for allegedly hacking President Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.
The indictment names Masoud Jalili, Seyyed Ali Aghamiri and Yasar Balaghi, with multiple charges.
All three men were reportedly employed by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and used a wide range of techniques to access current and former government officials’ digital information.
“These authoritarian regimes, which violate the human rights of their own citizens, do not get a say in our country’s democratic process,” Attorney General Merrick Garland said. “The American people, and the American people alone, will decide the outcome” of this year’s elections.
