President Donald Trump praised U.S. airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities as “hard and accurate” and said they caused “monumental” damage, following a weekend of escalating tensions in the Middle East.
“The damage to the Nuclear sites in Iran is said to be ‘monumental,’” Trump posted on Truth Social late Sunday. “The hits were hard and accurate. Great skill was shown by our military. Thank you!”
In a national address Saturday evening, Trump said the “massive precision strikes” were launched to destroy Iran’s most critical nuclear enrichment facilities, identifying them as Fordow, Isfahan and Natanz. “Key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated,” he told the nation.
The president also posted a video of a B-2 bomber returning safely to the U.S., saying, “THANK YOU!” to those involved in the Iranian mission.
“The GREAT B-2 pilots have just landed, safely, in Missouri. Thank you for a job well done!!! DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!” he added.
Trump also hinted at potential regime change in another post, calling for MIGA—Make Iran Great Again.
“It’s not politically correct to use the term, ‘Regime Change,’ but if the current Iranian Regime is unable to MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN, why wouldn’t there be a Regime change??? MIGA!!!” Trump posted.
However, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, speaking Sunday, emphasized that the operation was focused on neutralizing Iran’s nuclear threat and did not represent an attempt to overthrow the government in Tehran.
“This mission was not, has not been about regime change,” Hegseth said. “The President authorized a precision operation to neutralize the threats to our national interests posed by the Iranian nuclear program and the collective self-defense of our troops and our ally Israel.”
The strikes targeted nuclear facilities in Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan as part of Operation Midnight Hammer. Air Force Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said the assault involved decoys and deception and encountered no resistance from Iranian forces.
“Final battle damage will take some time, but initial battle damage assessments indicate that all three sites sustained extremely severe damage and destruction,” Caine said.
