President Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Wednesday evening to put forth a claim in the public arena that a top prosecutor at the DOJ allegedly attempted to bribe an attorney to pressure their client to “FALSELY ACCUSE & FABRICATE” a story about the president.
Trump alleged the following:
“SHOCKING! ONE OF THE TOP PROSECUTORS AT THE DEPARTMENT OF INJUSTICE WAS REPORTEDLY SO OBSESSED WITH ‘GETTING TRUMP’ THAT HE TRIED TO BRIBE & INTIMIDATE A LAWYER REPRESENTING SOMEONE BEING TARGETED & HARASSED TO FALSELY ACCUSE & FABRICATE A STORY ABOUT PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP & A CRIME THAT DOESN’T EXIST.”
Trump’s statement comes as rumors have swirled that federal prosecutors have informed him that he is likely to be indicted imminently in the ongoing investigation focused on “classified” documents taken during the FBI’s raid of Mar-a-Lago last year.
Per RSBN, Trump has stated that he has not been informed that he will be indicted, despite the cacophony of reports that have surfaced in the mainstream media this week.
He continued on Truth Social, “THIS CRIMINAL & SALACIOUS ACT FROM WITHIN THE DOJ HAS BROUGHT SHAME & EMBARRASSMENT TO THIS ONCE GREAT & RESPECTED INSTITUTION. BECAUSE OF THIS, THERE IS NOW EXTREME TURMOIL INSIDE THE DOJ….”
According to Just the News, the DOJ declined this week to delay impending charges in the case even after Trump’s legal team reportedly submitted evidence that witness tampering had potentially taken place.
Trump, however, expanded on his claims on Wednesday:
“A TOP OVERZEALOUS & DISHONEST DOJ PROSECUTOR OFFERED A WITNESS’ LAWYER AN IMPORTANT ‘JUDGESHIP’ IN THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION IF HIS CLIENT ‘FLIPS’ ON PRESIDENT TRUMP, WHO HAS DONE NOTHING WRONG! THE HIGHLY RESPECTED LAWYER WAS INCENSED & DISGUSTED AT THIS CORRUPT & ILLEGAL OFFER.”
On Monday, Trump questioned how the DOJ could “POSSIBLY CHARGE ME, WHO DID NOTHING WRONG, WHEN NO OTHER PRESIDENT’S WERE CHARGED, WHEN JOE BIDEN WON’T BE CHARGED FOR ANYTHING, INCLUDING THE FACT THAT HE HAS 1,850 BOXES, MUCH OF IT CLASSIFIED…”
On Wednesday, Trump additionally shared an uncited quotation on his Truth Social account that read, “‘An American Bar Association report in 2022 seemed to agree with Trump’s assertion that ‘guidelines support his contention that presidents have broad authority to formally declassify.’”
Trump has long since argued that the documents retrieved by the FBI at his home were declassified when he left the White House in 2021.
He concluded this week, “THIS CORRUPT & ILLEGAL OFFER. THE FAKE ‘CASE’ AGAINST ME MUST BE IMMEDIATELY DROPPED, AND THE INSPECTOR GENERAL SHOULD LAUNCH AN INVESTIGATION INTO THIS & THE MANY OTHER ALL TOO OBVIOUS WRONGDOINGS & CRIMES TAKING PLACE AT THE DOJ & FBI!”
