Following targeted strikes on Houthi rebels in Yemen on Saturday, President Trump made clear that actions by the terrorist group were at the direction of the Iranian government.

In a powerful Truth Social post, the 47th president wrote, “Let nobody be fooled! The hundreds of attacks being made by Houthi, the sinister mobsters and thugs based in Yemen, who are hated by the Yemeni people, all emanate from, and are created by, IRAN.”

He warned of further action from the United States if the terrorist activity continued and emphasized that the United States was not buying Iran’s denials. “Any further attack or retaliation by the ‘Houthis’ will be met with great force, and there is no guarantee that that force will stop there. Iran has played ‘the innocent victim’ of rogue terrorists from which they’ve lost control, but they haven’t lost control. They’re dictating every move, giving them the weapons, supplying them with money and highly sophisticated Military equipment, and even, so-called, ‘Intelligence.’”

Trump concluded his post with a promise to the Iranian government. “Every shot fired by the Houthis will be looked upon, from this point forward, as being a shot fired from the weapons and leadership of IRAN, and IRAN will be held responsible, and suffer the consequences, and those consequences will be dire!”

Trump’s statement was in response to Gen. Hossein Salami, the leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, who denied involvement in the Houthi attacks on American warships in the Red Sea.

According to ABC News, Salami reportedly said on Sunday, “We are not a nation to live in hiding. We are a valid and legitimate system in the world. We announce it if we attack anywhere.”

On Saturday, U.S. Central Command said it had “initiated a series of operations consisting of precision strikes against Iran-backed Houthi targets across Yemen to defend American interests, deter enemies, and restore freedom of navigation.”

President Trump announced the military strikes in a Truth Social post. Around a dozen Houthi drones were shot down by U.S. warships since Saturday, according to Fox News. One senior defense official told the outlet that the Houthi drones were aimed at the United States Navy’s Truman Carrier Strike Group but were destroyed “well before” they presented a significant danger.
