President Donald Trump immediately ended Secret Service protection for Hunter and Ashley Biden on Monday.
The president shared the news in a post to his Truth Social profile.
“Hunter Biden has had Secret Service protection for an extended period of time, all paid for by the United States Taxpayer. There are as many as 18 people on this Detail, which is ridiculous!” Trump wrote.
“He is currently vacationing in, of all places, South Africa, where the Human Rights of people has been strenuously questioned. Because of this, South Africa has been taken off our list of Countries receiving Economic and Financial Assistance,” he continued.
Trump also ended Secret Service protection for Ashley Biden, the daughter of former President Joe Biden and sister of Hunter Biden.
“Please be advised that, effective immediately, Hunter Biden will no longer receive Secret Service protection. Likewise, Ashley Biden who has 13 agents will be taken off the list,” he concluded.
Former presidents and their spouses receive Secret Service protection after leaving office. Protection for family members over the age of 16 officially ends after a president leaves office.
“We are aware of the President’s decision to terminate protection for Hunter and Ashley Biden,” the Secret Service told Fox News Digital on Monday. “The Secret Service will comply and is actively working with the protective details and the White House to ensure compliance as soon as possible.”
The reference to South Africa’s human rights abuses also comes as Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that South Africa’s Ambassador to the U.S. Ebrahim Rasool was no longer welcome in the country and must leave the U.S. by Friday.
“The supremacist assault on incumbency, we see it in the domestic politics of the U.S.A., the MAGA movement, the Make America Great Again movement, as a response not simply to a supremacist instinct, but to very clear data that shows great demographic shifts in the U.S.A. in which the voting electorate in the U.S.A. is projected to become 48% white,” the South African ambassador said.
