During his Team Trump Iowa Commit to Caucus Rally in Sioux Center, Iowa, on Friday, President Trump criticized the Biden administration for their supposed persecution of Christians, Catholics, and people of faith.
Trump began by touting his endorsements from pastors and faith leaders in “every single one” of Iowa’s 99 counties.
“God is with us,” said Trump. “It’s a great honor, I think it’s a first too—all 99.”
Trump further exclaimed that under Joe Biden, violent criminals have been “running wild” in “Democrat-run cities,” while law enforcement has been “weaponized” against Christians and Catholics.
“It’s really weaponized—I don’t know how many Catholics are in the room—maybe not that many here, are they?” Trump said. “Well, what are we doing with the Catholics? I mean—they are going—they’re persecuting Catholics.”
Trump then referenced a phone call he received during his term in the White House from the New York Cardinal, who asked for money to help fund schools for Catholics.
“I got him the money,” said Trump. “It was very important to get it because they do a tremendous service, and they have great schools.”
He concluded, “Why are they doing this with Catholics? Something’s happening—but they’re doing it with Christians, and they’re doing it with parents, and they’re doing it with a lot of people.”
