Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance predicted a victory for President Donald Trump on Sunday night, including a win in the traditionally blue state of New Hampshire.
Vance spoke before a crowd in Derry on Sunday evening just two days ahead of the election.
“I believe that in two days we’re going to turn New Hampshire red and make Donald Trump the next president of the United States,” Vance told supporters in Derry on Sunday night.
“I got to be honest, a couple of months ago, I wasn’t necessarily sure that the day before the last full day of the campaign, we’d be in the great state of New Hampshire. But I think that it suggests that what we’re doing is expanding the map,” Vance continued. “We’re bringing new voters into this coalition and for the folks in New Hampshire who want to live free, we are the only ticket in town, Donald J. Trump is the only president for you.”
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton won New Hampshire by less than one percent over Trump in 2016. In 2020, President Joe Biden won 52.9 percent of the vote over Trump, who ended with 45.5 percent.
The RealClearPolitics average for New Hampshire shows Vice President Kamala Harris up by 3.5 percent.
The latest Rasmussen Reports poll of the state released Wednesday showed Harris up by 1 percent, well within the margin of error for a Trump upset. A total of 3 percent said they would vote for a candidate other than Trump or Harris, while 2 percent remain undecided.
The latest Emerson College Poll of New Hampshire, released Oct. 24, showed Harris up 50 percent to 47 percent for Trump.
“Harris’ margin among women is similar to that of Biden in 2020 — however, male voters have shifted about two points toward Trump,” Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling, said. “In addition, Harris is underperforming Biden’s 2020 support among independent voters, who break for Harris by 13 points, but broke for Biden by about double that amount.”
The survey also found that in the race to succeed Governor Chris Sununu, former Republican Attorney General Kelly Ayotte has the support of 46 percent of voters, while former Manchester Mayor and Democrat Joyce Craig has 43 percent and 7 percent remain undecided.
