In the latest fight against Big Tech, President Donald Trump officially filed a Motion For Preliminary Injunction in the class-action lawsuit with America First Policy Institute against Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg on Oct. 7.
According to America First Policy Institute, the motion was successfully filed with Federal District Court Judge Kathleen M. Williams, who presides in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
The motion is “strategically designed” to quickly stop the censorship of the 45th president on Facebook and provide Trump the opportunity to use the platform.
Trump, along with AFPI, first announced the class-action lawsuit against “Big Tech giants” from Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, on July 7.
“I stand before you this morning to announce a very important… development for our freedom and freedom of speech … In conjunction with the America First Policy Institute, I’m filing, as the lead class action representative, a major class action lawsuit against the Big Tech giants, including Facebook, Google, and Twitter, as well as their CEOs,” Trump announced.
Trump has accused Big Tech of no longer simply censoring threats of violence according to each platform’s guidelines but of “manipulating and controlling the political debate itself.”
“No longer are Big Tech giants simply removing specific threats of violence. They are manipulating and controlling the political debate itself,” Trump wrote for the Wall Street Journal. “Perhaps most egregious, in the weeks after the election, Big Tech blocked the social-media accounts of the sitting president. If they can do it to me, they can do it to you—and believe me, they are.”
“Through these lawsuits, I intend to restore free speech for all Americans—Democrats, Republicans and independents. I will never stop fighting to defend the constitutional rights and sacred liberties of the American people,” he concluded.
Since the lawsuit filing on July 7, more than 95,000 Americans have submitted their own censorship stories and united with Trump in his fight against censorship.
