President Trump took a few swings at the “Fake News” and the legal battles that have been thrown at him recently, holding a firm line against politically-fueled attacks.
“They do it for election interference,” he said to a room of excited MAGA supporters in Newton, Iowa, on Saturday. Prospective caucus-goers gathered in droves to hear the president deliver remarks in the first of two scheduled Commit to Caucus rallies in the afternoon.
The president specifically zeroed in on the allegations made against him by E. Jean Carroll ahead of an impending reported potential second trial date in the case.
“This is all political stuff, including the women stuff,” he said, slamming the multiple indictments and cases being aimed at him.
“It was ALL made up,” he added.
President Trump scorched Carroll’s allegations, saying that, “She’s just doing what they want her to do.” He also pointed out earlier in his remarks that until he came along, the “Fake News” had never been so exposed.
Trump also went after Reid Hoffman, a businessman who has donated lots of money to former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley. Per The Hill, Hoffman donated a reported $250,000 to Nikki Haley in December 2023.
“They don’t want to run against me,” the president said. He also highlighted Nikki Haley and Gov. Ron DeSantis’s, R-Fla., perceived weakness, noting that they couldn’t handle the extreme legal attacks he’s been lobbed with.
“Do you think ANYBODY else could get up here and speak to you all day? And get indicted FOUR times?” he pointed out.
The audience on Saturday showed their unwavering support for Trump, chanting, “TRUMP, TRUMP, TRUMP,” midway through his speech and applauding him as he recounted his ongoing fight through the court systems amid his reelection bid.
“People who fund Nikki Halley and Ron aren’t working for your interests,” he warned.
