President Donald Trump told New York Magazine in an exclusive interview that he had already whether he will run for president again in 2024.

“Well, in my own mind, I’ve already made that decision, so nothing factors in anymore,” he said. “In my own mind, I’ve already made that decision.”

The question now, according to President Trump’s comments, is when he will be announcing his decision: before or after the 2022 midterm elections.

Trump told New York Magazine writer Olivia Nuzzi, “I just think that there are certain assets to before. Let people know. I think a lot of people would not even run if I did that because, if you look at the polls, they don’t even register. Most of these people. And I think that you would actually have a backlash against them if they ran. People want me to run.”

President Trump has steadily outpolled every other prospective 2024 GOP candidate since leaving office in 2021. For example, a recent Golden TIPP poll looking at the popularity of candidates in a 2024 presidential race revealed that Trump would net a projected 55 percent of Republican support.

To put this in perspective, Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., netted only 12 percent of the potential vote when pitted against Trump in the same poll. DeSantis is wildly popular among conservatives, but the polling consistently indicates that registered Republicans and Republican-leaning Independents want Trump back in the White House.

Another June poll from Harvard CAPS Harris found that Trump’s polling among the GOP increased by 15 percent in just one month, again placing him at the top of the competitive dog pile amid a crowded field of potential 2024 GOP presidential candidates.

Trump has all but thrown his hat into the 2024 presidential ring, and most GOP voters would love to see the 45th president run. It is unclear what Democrat opponent would be running against the GOP nominee in 2024, but the chances that it will be Joe Biden are slim, based on his overwhelming unpopularity with the American people.

In fact, Joe Biden’s popularity is sinking fast, according to a new Civiqs poll that reported he is barely hanging on to 29 percent approval among Americans today.

“Look,” Trump told New York Magazine, “I feel very confident that, if I decide to run, I’ll win.”

However, since Trump has additionally stated that he has already made up his mind, his supporters can likely bet on an announcement just before the midterms or shortly after.
