President Donald Trump dominated a brand new poll conducted through Golden TIPP that looked at the popularity of candidates in a hypothetical 2024 GOP primary election. Trump handily blew away the competition with a projected 55 percent of Republican support among a survey of 385 Republicans or Republican-leaning Independents, according to a report from American Wire News.

The poll also showed popular conservative Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., garnering 12 percent of the potential vote, lending credence to the theory that while conservatives widely admire DeSantis, Republican voters still prefer President Trump in a 2024 presidential race.

The poll additionally found that former Vice President Mike Pence garnered just seven percent of the vote. Potential candidates like Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Gov. Greg Abbott, R-Texas, netted two percent and one percent, respectively.

According to the American Wire News report, other candidates suggested to the 385 Republicans and Independents surveyed, like Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., and Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., fell flat. They collected less than one percent and were “rounded down to zero,” according to the report.

This is not the first time that President Trump’s poll numbers have shown him easily steamrolling the GOP playing field ahead of a potential 2024 presidential bid. On Thursday, the 45th president shared data on Truth Social from a new Zogby Poll that showed him leading a potential 2024 GOP primary election with a whopping 54 percent. Gov. DeSantis also netted 12 percent of the potential vote in that poll.

Although President Trump has not officially announced whether he will be running for president again in 2024, he has all but thrown his hat into the ring. Last week, Trump asked an eager audience at the Faith and Freedom Coalition in Nashville, Tennessee if they would like him to run for president. The crowd burst into cheers and applause of support.

Trump has the momentum and popularity to run again in 2024, but most conservative commentators project that he will not announce his plans until after the 2022 midterm elections.
