Trump has something to say regarding a possible DeSantis presidential run: ‘We’ll handle that the way I handle things’

Former President Donald Trump didn’t mince words when asked about the possibility of popular Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, R-Fla., running for the Republican nomination for president in 2024.

In Monday’s episode of “The Water Cooler Show,” Trump was asked by Real America’s Voice host David Brody if he considered it a “bad move” for Gov. DeSantis to consider a 2024 run.

While it should be noted that DeSantis has not yet announced his candidacy, Trump bluntly stated that “… now I hear [DeSantis] might want to run against me. So we’ll handle that the way I handle things.”

It was further reported by Just The News that:

“Trump, who is in his third campaign for the White House, also claimed credit, as he has several times previously, for getting DeSantis elected as governor in 2018.

‘I got him elected, pure and simple,’ Trump told show host Brody.”

His statements ferment the less-than-amicable relationship between the two Republicans. DeSantis has long been seen as the only Republican who could even come close to Trump in terms of popularity and, perhaps, in terms of a successful nomination.

A few polls, as reported by The Hill, seem to sharpen this point. The article revealed that “One poll from Yahoo News-YouGov released last month showed DeSantis ahead of Trump, 47 to 42 percent, among registered voters.”

The same article then reported that “a separate poll from Vanderbilt University also from December showed DeSantis receiving 54 percent among registered Republicans compared to 41 percent for Trump.”
