President Trump has harsh words for billionaire George Soros and his efforts to back protest groups within the United States. Soros, a well-known advocate for radical left causes, has openly supported protest movements and extremely left-wing candidates for political office. Most recently, Soros has been linked to funding for protests against Trump’s attempts to get crime in Washington, D.C., under control.
In a Truth social post on Wednesday, Trump took aim at Soros and his son for their funding of far-left activism, even hinting that the father-son duo could be open to potential criminal charges for their actions.
“George Soros, and his wonderful Radical Left son, should be charged with RICO because of their support of Violent Protests, and much more, all throughout the United States of America.” Trump said. “We’re not going to allow these lunatics to rip apart America any more, never giving it so much as a chance to “BREATHE,” and be FREE.”
Earlier this month, President Trump announced that his administration would be cracking down on crime in Washington, D.C., by deploying National Guard troops and taking federal control of the city’s police force. According to The New York Post, Soros’ Open Society Foundations is one of the left-wing organizations that have contributed $20 million to fund Free DC and its protests against the actions of the Trump administration.
In July 2020, amid the riots in response to the death of George Floyd, Open Society Foundations announced it would contribute $220 million to various organizations to “sustain the momentum towards racial equality.” The subsequent riots were the costliest in U.S. history, causing damage to property totaling over $1 billion.
Trump highlighted the destruction that has been caused through Soros-backed protest movements in the past and issued a warning to Soros and his potential left-wing allies.
“Soros, and his group of psychopaths, have caused great damage to our Country!” Trump said. “That includes his Crazy, West Coast friends. Be careful, we’re watching you! Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
