Trump Media announced Wednesday it has begun beta testing a new AI-powered search feature on its Truth Social platform, marking a step into artificial intelligence integration with a tool called Truth Search AI.
The feature is being developed in partnership with Perplexity, an AI company that specializes in providing direct answers with citations. According to the company, the new tool will allow Truth Social users to access a broader range of information directly within the platform.
“Powered by Perplexity, a software and AI company dedicated to providing direct, contextually accurate answers with transparent citations, Truth Search AI is intended to enhance the Truth Social platform and exponentially increase the amount of information available to its users,” Trump Media said in a statement.
Truth Social joins a growing list of platforms incorporating artificial intelligence. Elon Musk’s X debuted the Grok chatbot in 2023, Meta launched Meta AI in 2024 and Google has introduced its own AI search features.
President Donald Trump has prioritized AI during both terms in office. In January, he signed an executive order aimed at removing regulatory barriers to U.S. leadership in AI. A month later, the White House released a strategic plan to boost America’s competitive edge in the global AI race.
“The United States has long been at the forefront of artificial intelligence (AI) innovation, driven by the strength of our free markets, world-class research institutions, and entrepreneurial spirit,” the order stated.
“To maintain this leadership, we must develop AI systems that are free from ideological bias or engineered social agendas. With the right Government policies, we can solidify our position as the global leader in AI and secure a brighter future for all Americans,” it continued.
Trump Media CEO Devin Nunes said the company is currently collecting feedback during the beta phase.
“We’re proud to partner with Perplexity to launch our public Beta testing of Truth Social AI, which will make Truth Social an even more vital element in the Patriot Economy. We plan to robustly refine and expand our search function based on user feedback as we implement a wide range of additional enhancements to the platform,” said Nunes, a former Republican congressman from California, in the company’s statement.
