President Donald Trump has moved ahead of Joe Biden by four points in New Hampshire, according to a new poll released on Monday.
The Saint Anselm College Survey Center at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics (NHIOP) survey revealed that Trump now holds a 44 percent to 42 percent advantage over Biden.
The poll, conducted on June 28-29 following the first presidential debate, offered a significant change from a December New Hampshire poll where Biden led by 10 points.
The study also found that a large majority of likely voters are committed to their choice in the presidential election.
“76% of registered voters in New Hampshire stated they were committed to their choice, while 24% indicated they might reconsider their vote,” the group noted in a post featuring the poll on X.
According to Neil Levesque, executive director of the NHIOP, Biden also has a lower percentage of voters who solidly back their party’s candidates.
“Biden leads among voters who dislike both candidates. However, more Democratic voters are drifting toward independent candidates than their Republican counterparts. While 89% of Republicans are solidly backing Trump, Biden secures the support of only 82% of Democrats,” he wrote.
Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has also qualified for the ballot in New Hampshire. He currently ranked at 4 percent in the poll. Another 6 percent said they were unsure, with no other candidate ranking over 1 percent.
The poll also noted that Trump holds a lead in the state’s 1st Congressional District, where Republicans hold an advantage. In the state’s 2nd District, Trump also holds a 2-point lead despite Democrats holding an advantage by 4 points in registrations.
The results show that Republicans may also have a strong shot at picking up the 2nd District seat, adding an advantage for the GOP in the House.
The New Hampshire poll adds to a growing number of polls nationwide showing Trump’s gains in battleground states.
In another poll released by Cygnal on Monday, Trump also now leads Biden by nearly 4 percent in Pennsylvania, a key battleground state Republicans feel is essential to win to guarantee a victory in November.
“Trump turned the Keystone State red in 2016 but Biden was able to flip it back to blue in 2020, meaning Pennsylvania is likely [to] determine the next President,” Brock McCleary, a Cygnal and Trump 2020 pollster, said in a statement.
