Trump nicknames Stacey ‘The Hoax’ Abrams after she announced gubernatorial bid

President Trump was quick in moving to tarnish Democrat Stacey Abrams’ reputation after she announced on Wednesday that she would again run for governor of Georgia in 2022.

Trump nicknamed her “Stacey ‘The Hoax’ Abrams,” in lieu of her past comments asserting that there were no election irregularities during Georgia’s 2020 presidential election process, despite her unsubstantiated accusations two years earlier claiming that she lost the 2018 Georgia gubernatorial election because of election irregularities and voter suppression.

“Stacey ‘The Hoax’ Abrams has just announced that she’s running for Governor of Georgia,” Trump wrote in a statement.

Trump maintained that he defeated her in the 2018 Georgia governor’s race “without much of a candidate” in Republican Brian Kemp, and that he would beat her again, although confessing that it would be difficult to do with Kemp.

“I beat her single-handedly, without much of a candidate, in 2018. I’ll beat her again, but it will be hard to do with Brian Kemp, because the MAGA base will just not vote for him after what he did with respect to Election Integrity and two horribly run elections, for President and then two Senate seats,” said Trump.

Trump has frequently criticized Kemp for his handling of Georgia’s 2020 presidential race, accusing the governor of ignoring allegations of election fraud and not ordering a signature audit.

Trump contended that he believed “some good Republican” would run, get his endorsement, and win. Trump has not yet endorsed a candidate in the state’s gubernatorial race, but he has vowed to support a primary challenger against Gov. Kemp. Trump even quipped that he would prefer Abrams being governor over Kemp.

Former state Rep. Vernon Jones has already launched a primary campaign against Kemp, and former Sen. David Perdue has expressed interest in primarying Kemp as well.
