Trump praises ‘strong’ GOP senate talks amid focus on border security and wildfire relief

Reporters caught up with President Donald Trump after his successful GOP meeting on Wednesday, which focused on border security.

After President Trump and Melania Trump paid their respects to former President Carter, who was lying in state in the Rotunda, President Trump attended a meeting with Senate Republicans to ensure all Republicans are on the same page.

The Hill reported that reporters caught up with President Trump afterward to find out more about the meeting, which President Trump revealed was a “great meeting. There’s great unity. Whether it’s one bill or two bills, it’s going to get done one way or the other.” He also added, “I think there’s a lot of talk about two, and there’s a lot of talk about one, but it doesn’t matter. The end result is the same.”

According to the Conservative Brief, the meeting lasted 100 minutes and covered topics like securing the border. The Conservative Brief shared President Trump’s plan to secure the border.

He told reporters, “Number one, we’re closing the border. It’s going to be closed very strongly and it’s going to be closed.” He also explained that his plans involve removing criminals.

President Trump explained, “The people of this country don’t want murderers walking down their farms or their streets or their cities,” and added, “We want them out of our country and we’re going to get our country back again and we’re going to be really governed by common sense.”

Reporters also took the opportunity to ask President Trump some questions about the ongoing fires tearing through Los Angeles. According to the Conservative Brief, reporters asked whether he would work alongside California Gov. Gavin Newsom to help the state even when Newsom had failed to sign the water restoration declaration, which has now resulted in a severe lack of water during catastrophic wildfires.

President Trump told reporters, “We would work together. I guess it looks like we’re going to be the one having to rebuild it.”

However, while President Trump would work alongside Newsom, he has called for his resignation. RSBN reported that President Trump said, “It’s ashes, and Gavin Newscum should resign. This is all his fault.”
