Coca-Cola Chairman and CEO James Quincy presented President Donald Trump with a special Inaugural Diet Coke bottle ahead of his return to the White House.
The Tuesday event marked a change from the company’s previous criticism of Trump and highlighted the president’s preference for Diet Coke that included a “Diet Coke button” during his first term in office.
“Tonight, President Trump received the first ever Presidential Commemorative Inaugural Diet Coke bottle from the Chairman and CEO of Coca-Cola Company, James Quincey,” Trump deputy communications director Margo Martin posted on X on Tuesday.
The bottle included a label with an image of the White House and stated, “The Inauguration of the President of the United States” with “Donald J. Trump” and the date of “January 20, 2025.”
“Founded 126 years ago in Atlanta, Georgia, The Coca-Cola Company takes great pride in producing hundreds of brands that people enjoy. Along with our 60+ independent bottling partners, the Coca-Cola system generates $58+ billion in U.S. economic activity annually and supports more than 860,000 jobs in the United States,” a box with the bottle stated, according to Newsweek.
The Daily Mail reported in December that Trump’s plans to return to the White House included restoring the famous red Diet Coke button to the Oval Office. During his first term in office, Trump would press the button whenever he wanted a Diet Coke, and it would be delivered on a silver tray, reportedly drinking up to 12 cans per day.
President Joe Biden removed the button when he took office.
The presentation showed a change in response from the bottling company’s past criticisms of the president. The change in attitude matches other corporations, including Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg, who plan to attend Trump’s inauguration and have donated $1 million or more to his inaugural fund.
Apple CEO Tim Cook also reportedly donated $1 million to Trump’s inaugural committee, Axios reported on Friday. He was not mentioned in the report with the other three tech leaders expected to attend the inauguration.
The announcement comes after Cook met with Trump at Mar-a-Lago last month after the election.
