President Donald Trump delivered remarks on Tuesday at Fort Bragg, praising the strength of the United States Army as the nation prepares to celebrate the fighting force’s 250th anniversary, and providing a straightforward assessment of the “invasion” being combated by the National Guard and the U.S. Marines in Los Angeles.
Amid violent and disturbing riots in California from those protesting the lawful enforcement of immigration policies and deportation efforts, President Donald Trump deployed this week thousands of National Guardsmen and 700 U.S. Marines to the urban area to halt the anarchic behavior from these agitators.
“Generations of Army heroes did not shed their blood on distant shores only to watch our country be destroyed by invasion and third-world lawlessness,” Trump said. “…As Commander-in-Chief, I will not let that happen.”
He slammed the violence and anti-federal-law protests in California, noting, “What you see in California is a full-blown assault on peace, on public order, and on national sovereignty carried out by rioters carrying foreign flags with the aim of carrying out a foreign invasion.”
Trump reiterated, “We’re NOT going to let that happen.”
He pointed out how these illegal invaders came into America under the open borders policy of Joe Biden, which he described as the “dumbest policy yet.”
The rioters, Trump said, “are professionals, they’re not amateurs.”
“These are animals – but they proudly carry the flags of other countries, but they don’t carry the American flag, they burn it,” he said.
The president then suggested that anyone who burns the American flag should go to jail for one year, noting that he would like to see such a law passed soon.
Trump also suggested that somebody has been financing the violent demonstrations in Los Angeles, stating that U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi is looking into it. “We will not allow an American city to be invaded and conquered by a foreign enemy,” Trump said.
The president praised the “courage and the strength of the incredible troops who are right now standing guard to protect federal property and personnel,” providing critical backup for ICE agents, the Los Angeles Police Department, and “the republic itself – they’re heroes.”
Trump further scorched Gov. Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass as “incompetent.”
“One of the cleanest, safest, and most beautiful cities on Earth” is now a “trash heap with entire neighborhoods under the control of transnational gangs,” Trump said.
“We will liberate Los Angeles and make it free, safe, and clean again,” the president added.
