President Donald Trump reacted on Monday night to early projected reports that he had won the Iowa caucuses, telling Fox News that he was “greatly honored” to bring it home in a big way in the integral Hawkeye State.
“I feel great. I am greatly honored by such an early call,” he told the outlet.
He also added, “It really is an honor that, minutes after, they’ve announced I’ve won—against very credible competition—great competition, actually.”
As reported by RSBN, President Trump was reported early in the night in Iowa to prospectively win the caucuses with just one or two percent of precincts reporting. Decision Desk, for example, projected that Trump had won with around 57.9 percent of the caucus vote at 9:11 p.m. ET (still developing).
Such a massive and early call in the race may represent a historic win for the president, who is running for a second non-consecutive term in the White House.
He told Fox News, “I feel really invigorated and strong for our country. We want to Make America Great Again—the greatest slogan ever—and the fact is, that’s what we did.”
In an official statement from MAGA Inc., the campaign noted, “The people of Iowa sent a clear message tonight: Donald Trump will be the next Republican nominee for President. It’s now time to make him the next President of the United States.”
