Trump receives big endorsement from law enforcement group

The National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO), an allegiance of American police unions from across the United States, have endorsed President Donald Trump.

Speaking to the president’s supporters during a rally Charlotte, North Carolina on Wednesday, NAPO’s President Michael McHale praised President Trump’s law enforcement policies, then listing the administration’s most outstanding pieces of legal legislation.

“As president, President Trump directed the attorney general to aggressively prosecute those who attack officers for simply being in a uniform,” said McHale. “He signed the law enforcement mental health and wellness act. And ladies and gentlemen, that’s protecting the protectors.”

He continued, “President Trump also signed the ability for surplus military equipment to once again be used to protect you, the citizens, not to take your rights.”

“One of the most important things that the president did — he recognized that the men and women who provide public safety, who are part of law enforcement deserve the same constitutional rights as the people we serve,” he concluded.

McHale had also written a letter to President Trump prior to the rally, according to a post to X from Trump Senior Advisor Dan Scavino, where he endorsed the president’s campaign due to his “steadfast and very public support” for officers on “the front lines.”

“As President, he directed the Attorney General to aggressively prosecute those who attack our officers; signed into law the Law Enforcement Mental Health and Wellness Act; reinstated state and local law enforcement’s access to lifesaving surplus military equipment; and revitalized the Project Safe Neighborhoods program to help reduce violent crime,” McHale wrote in his letter.

He added, “We particularly appreciate his unflagging recognition that America’s law enforcement officers, just like any other citizens, have Constitutional rights, too.”

NAPO’s endorsement is now thee second time their group has backed President Trump, having previously supported his campaign from 2020, according to Real Clear Politics.
