President Trump is not backing down on his call for the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates, again urging Chair Jerome Powell to take action.

On early Easter Monday morning, Trump wrote on Truth Social that “Preemptive Cuts” in interest rates were “being called for by many.”

“With Energy Costs way down, food prices (including Biden’s egg disaster!) substantially lower, and most other ‘things’ trending down, there is virtually No Inflation. With these costs trending so nicely downward, just what I predicted they would do, there can almost be no inflation, but there can be a SLOWING of the economy unless Mr. Too Late, a major loser, lowers interest rates, NOW. Europe has already ‘lowered’ seven times.”

He concluded his pointed call with a harsh truth for the Fed Chair. “Powell has always been ‘Too Late,’ except when it came to the Election period when he lowered in order to help Sleepy Joe Biden, later Kamala, get elected. How did that work out?”

Trump’s push comes just days after another fiery criticism of Powell via Truth Social last Thursday. He pointed out that the European Central Bank (ECB) was “expected to cut interest rates for the 7th time,” and coined Powell’s “Too Late” nickname.

“Jerome Powell of the Fed, who is always TOO LATE AND WRONG, yesterday issued a report which was another, and typical, complete ‘mess!’ Oil prices are down, groceries (even eggs!) are down, and the USA is getting RICH ON TARIFFS. Too Late should have lowered Interest Rates, like the ECB, long ago, but he should certainly lower them now. Powell’s termination cannot come fast enough!” Trump wrote.

Later that day, while speaking to the press during the White House visit from Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Trump responded to a reporter’s claim that Powell would not resign, even if Trump asked him to leave.

Trump confidently responded, “Oh, he’ll leave. If I ask him to, he’ll be out of there. I don’t think he’s doing the job. He’s too late, always too late, a little slow, and I’m not happy with him. I let him know it, and if I want him out, he will be out of there real fast. Believe me.”
