President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that he will travel to Iowa this week to headline a celebration marking the start of America’s 250th anniversary observances, calling it a tribute to the nation’s founding and to the people of the Hawkeye State, who have long supported his presidency.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, July 3, at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines and will begin at 7:30 p.m. Central Time, according to the event’s organizers.

“I am thrilled to announce that I will be traveling to one of my favorite places in the World, beautiful Iowa, on Thursday, July 3rd, to kick off the very beginning of our exciting Celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary!” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. “Iowa voted for me THREE TIMES, because they love my Policies for our Wonderful Farmers and Small Businesses, and they LOVE AMERICA!”

Trump described the gathering as a “very special event” honoring American heroes and previewed comments he plans to make about trade and agricultural policy. “You are going to be very happy with what I say — Should be a BIG Crowd!” he added, encouraging supporters to RSVP.

The Iowa visit marks the start of a year-long national commemoration ahead of the United States’ semiquincentennial on July 4, 2026.

“This special event serves as the magnificent start of a dynamic, year-long commemoration across our beautiful country, unveiling a vision for a renewed commitment to America’s future,” said Monica Crowley, a media representative for America250, which is coordinating the anniversary celebrations.

As RSBN previously reported, the event is a fulfillment of a campaign promise President Trump made in 2023, when he vowed to highlight America’s independence with a year-long celebration beginning in Iowa.

“On Day One, I will convene a White House task force called ‘Salute to America 250,’” he said three years ago. “It will be responsible for coordinating with state and local governments to ensure not just one day of celebration, but an entire year of festivities across the nation starting on Memorial Day 2025 and continuing through July 4th, 2026.”
