Following President Donald Trump being nominated TIME’s “Person of the Year,” the president-elect told the magazine in an exclusive sit-down interview what he considered Vice President Kamala Harris’ worst mistake for her presidential campaign.
“I think that when she wouldn’t talk to anybody, it shone a light on her,” Trump explained in the interview, which TIME officially published Thursday.
He further explained that Harris “didn’t do anything,” causing Americans to ask, “Is there something wrong with her?”
“I did interviews with, if I had the time, anybody that would ask, I’d do interviews,” the president-elect argued. “I think the Joe Rogan interview, you know, that went on for almost three and a half hours.”
Trump also credited his win to the many massive campaign rallies he held, which he claimed had “thousands of people” in attendance, while his opponent’s events had “a few hundred people.”
“I think [the Harris campaign] made a big tactical mistake by literally not talking to the press,” he said, adding that Harris’ staffers even denied talking to the “friendly” press.
“They wouldn’t do the basic,” he explained. “And people, including me, would start to say, ‘Is there something wrong with her? What’s wrong?'”
He continued, “Why wouldn’t you do some basic interviews? And then she had some pretty failed interviews, and maybe it was highlighted more than it would. In other words, if she did another 15 interviews, you know, you wouldn’t have noticed it that much.”
“[Harris] put so much emphasis on interviews,” he concluded. “Somebody thought that there was something wrong, and I don’t think she ever recovered.”
TIME has nominated the winner of the presidential race as “Person of the Year” since George W. Bush in 2000, according to CBS News. Trump previously won the title in 2016 after he defeated Hillary Clinton.
