President Donald J. Trump slammed Joe Biden’s Thursday speech criticizing “MAGA Republicans,” stating that the remarks were made in “hatred and anger” and that Biden was the true enemy of the state.
At a Save America rally in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Trump said: “As you know, this week Joe Biden came to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to give the most vicious, hateful, and divisive speech ever delivered by an American president, vilifying 75 million citizens … as threats to democracy and as enemies of the state.”
Trump continued: “He’s an enemy of the state, if you want to know the truth. The enemy of the state is him and the group that control him, which is circling around him.”
Also noting the strange choice of backdrop chosen for Biden’s remarks, Trump jokingly added, “How’d you like the red lighting behind him like the devil?”
During the divisive speech in question, Biden railed, “Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our Republic.”
On Friday, however, he walked those comments back.
“I don’t consider any Trump supporter to be a threat,” Biden said. “I do think anyone who calls for the use of violence and refuses to acknowledge an election has been won … That is a threat to democracy.”
Trump, firing back on Saturday, said: “He thinks Making America Great Again is a threat to our country. No, Making America Great Again is great for our country.”
