President Donald Trump made a grand appearance at the New York Young Republican Club on Saturday night, where a glittering array of conservative stars gathered to celebrate a forward-thinking vision for America at the organization’s 111th annual gala.
The dinner was packed out and featured a slate of conservative leaders and political figures, including Human Events Editor Jack Posobiec, CEO of X Strategies Alex Bruesewitz, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, Trump spokesperson Alina Habba, and many more.
The president, who looked as dapper as ever in a sleek black-and-white tux, opened his speech by thanking the NYYRC for hosting him, additionally noting that he thought in 2024 “we have a great chance of winning New York.”
“I think we have a GREAT chance,” he added again.
The 45th president explained, “If we win New York and likewise we’re going to put a heavy play in New Jersey, Virginia…then we win the election very easily – very, very easily.
He said that winning such key battleground states would “counter all of the cheating” that the radical leftists would prospectively engage in.
Trump highlighted the work of Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., (who was also a guest of honor and speaker on Saturday), Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., and former New York Rep. Lee Zeldin.
The president joked that his campaign had “kicked ass” in the 2016 GOP presidential primary. He spent a great deal of time on Saturday night reflecting on his historic journey to the White House. He also asked the crowd if they liked the nickname “Crooked Joe” or “Sleepy Joe” better for his political opponent, Joe Biden, whom he often calls “Crooked Joe Biden.”
The crowd seemed to prefer “Sleepy Joe.” The president joked, “I may have to change it!”
