Trump slams prosecutorial attacks: ‘It’s not an investigation, it’s a persecution’

President Donald Trump did not mince words when he talked about the ongoing investigations that have been aimed at him since he launched his 2024 presidential campaign.

In remarks delivered at the NRA Convention on Friday evening in Indianapolis, Indiana, the president slammed New York Attorney General Letitia James and the Manhattan district attorney’s office for their perpetual probes and investigations into his finances and personal business.

“Instead of getting these dangerous criminals into jail,” Trump pointed out, “…[they are] subverting the law to attack conservative people, and religious people, evangelicals, Christians.”

Trump called James a “racist in reverse” and a “maniac,” highlighting James’s prior campaign vows to sue the president if she became the New York State attorney general. “It’s not an investigation, it’s a persecution,” he remarked.

He also shined a light on the startling double standard between the justice system’s investigation of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago versus Joe Biden’s numerous document scandals.

“Biden has 1,850 boxes that are unaccounted for,” Trump said. “He had many boxes in Chinatown, classified information. They sent them up to Boston and they sit up in Boston and then it was revealed that he got millions of dollars from the Chinese…They don’t care about that, they only care about Trump.”

He said that his enemies were “trying to arrest their political opposition” in what he described as “Soviet-style” prosecutorial abuse.

“They’re not coming after me, they’re coming after you and I’m just sort of in the way of these people,” he concluded.
