President Donald Trump took Saudi Arabia by storm on Tuesday, receiving a royal welcome from Saudi officials and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, where he inked a historic deal with the Middle Eastern country and delivered optimistic remarks at an investment summit in Riyadh.
The president took the stage at the Saudi-U.S. Investment Forum as Lee Greenwood’s “God Bless the USA” played throughout the building, unflinchingly trumpeting American strength to the audience.
“With this historic state visit we celebrate more than 80 years of close partnership,” Trump said, thanking the Saudi people for their exceptionally “warm welcome” and praising the country for being a “beautiful kingdom.”
“Today, we affirm this important bond and we take the next steps to make our relationship closer, stronger, and more powerful than ever before,” he continued.
The White House announced Tuesday morning that Trump had secured a whopping $600 billion investment from Saudi Arabia, thanks to a series of agreements signed this week, ensuring transformative trade investments from the Saudis into the domestic U.S., while providing the sale of U.S. military-grade warfighting equipment to the Arab kingdom in return.
The president heralded the rapid success of his administration in restoring greatness – listing accomplishments on securing the southern border and inspiring record enlistment in the U.S. military – and looked ahead to a bright future with Saudi Arabia as a friend.
“Most importantly, for the people in this room, the days of economic misery under the last administration are rapidly giving way to the greatest economy in the history of the world,” Trump said. “We are rocking. The United States is the hottest country – with the exception of your country, I have to say.”
President Trump also highlighted recent trade deals made with the United Kingdom, as well as negotiations with China. “We’ve seen wealth that is just pouring back into America,” he said, trumpeting multi-billion-dollar investments from companies like Apple, NVIDIA, and TSMC.
He said there was “no better place to make a future [and] make a fortune” than in the United States.
Trump also praised Saudi Arabia for transcending “ancient, tired divisions of the past” to revitalize their kingdom, build skyscrapers, and invest in future generations. He described this approach as “commerce, not chaos,” and said the current timeline was “an exhilarating period” in the Arabian Peninsula.
