Some supporters of President Trump are being met with hostility and discrimination fueled by biased media narratives and political polarization.
It’s not uncommon for President Trump to be the target of blatant media bias, but now some supporters are also experiencing it. Breitbart reported that Jacob Lindemyer and his wife, Erika, from Michigan, have been refused service and received death threats for supporting President Trump.
The incident occurred at a Smoothie King in Ann Arbor, where two employees refused to serve the couple and asked them to leave. During the incident, Lindemyer was wearing a hoodie that read, “Trump 2024 – Take America Back.”
In the video of the incident, the couple was heard telling the smoothie shop employees that they were committing a crime and that they were discriminating against them. The store employees told the couple, “We’re not serving Trump supporters. You have a great day.”
In an interview with Fox, Lindmeyer shared that his family is also receiving death threats. He said, “My kids aren’t in school right now. We’ve kept our kids home. My daughter is getting harassed. Her safety is being threatened. She’s getting death threats.”
According to Fox, the death threats contained messages like “You better watch your back. We know where you live.”
Smoothie King reached out to the family to apologize and responded to the backlash from the incident with a statement that read, “The local owner is also taking further action and enforcing mandatory training for all employees that outlines our guest experience standards.”
For Lindemyer and his family, an apology and re-training don’t address the problem that has taken root in the country. People are being targeted for their beliefs, and this behavior is being encouraged by mainstream left-leaning media. Political identity is now triggering strong reactions in everyday spaces.
Lindmeyer shared his thoughts on the outcome, “They got rid of these people. That’s good for them, but what about us now?” he added. “Our lives are literally changed. Our kids aren’t even going to school right now because I’m worried for their safety. We’re just sitting there, thrown by the wayside.”
