President Donald Trump held no punches when calling out Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., supporting a primary challenge to the congressman after he co-introduced legislation to minimize the president’s ability to use military force in Iran.

In a strongly worded post to Truth Social, President Trump dubbed Massie a “grandstander” and “lightweight,” especially amid his opposition to the president bombing Iranian nuclear facilities on Saturday, and his latest “Big, Beautiful Bill.”

“Congressman Thomas Massie of Kentucky is not MAGA, even though he likes to say he is. Actually, MAGA doesn’t want him, doesn’t know him, and doesn’t respect him,” President Trump wrote.

He further noted that Massie is a “negative force who almost always Votes ‘NO,’ no matter how good something may be,” and that “He’s a simple minded ‘grandstander’ who believes Iran should possess nuclear weapons while yelling ‘DEATH TO AMERICA'” wherever possible.

He continued, “Iran has killed and maimed thousands of Americans, and even took over the American Embassy in Tehran under the Carter Administration. We had a spectacular military success yesterday, taking the “bomb” right out of their hands (and they would use it if they could!) but, as usual, and despite all of the praise and accolades received, this “lightweight” Congressman is against what was so brilliantly achieved last night in Iran.”

The president then said that Massie should “drop his fake act” and begin “putting America first,” but that this was rather unlikely since he already voted against the “Great, Big, Beautiful Bill” and its tax cuts.

Along with opposing the president’s actions in Iran, Massie also voted against the House version of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, one of President Trump’s biggest legislative goals.

“MAGA should drop this pathetic LOSER, Tom Massie, like the plague! The good news is that we will have a wonderful American Patriot running against him in the Republican Primary, and I’ll be out in Kentucky campaigning really hard,” President Trump added.

“MAGA is not about lazy, grandstanding, nonproductive politicians, of which Thomas Massie is definitely one,” he wrote.

President Trump concluded, “Thank you to our incredible military for the AMAZING job they did last night. It was really SPECIAL!!! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.”

Earlier this month, Massie joined Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., in introducing the War Powers Resolution to prevent President Trump from being able to strike Iran, claiming the president’s actions could lead to endless conflicts in the Middle East, according to the New York Post.

President Trump, however, has continually argued that the strikes were necessary and that Iran would have obtained and used a nuclear weapon if the U.S. had not intervened.

The congressman has also received criticism for his opposition, given that he represents a congressional district where the president won with 67 percent support in 2024.
