A new USA TODAY/Suffolk University Poll shows President Donald Trump taking a commanding lead among Latino voters over Vice President Kamala Harris.

The latest study shows Trump at 49 percent among Latino voters, with Harris dropping to 38 percent.

The survey of 1,000 potential voters also showed Trump gaining ground, with Harris at 45 percent and the 45th president at 44 percent, with a 3.1 percent margin of error, meaning the overall results are essentially a toss-up.

Black voters continued to support Harris over Trump. The survey showed 72 percent of Black voters supporting Harris.

The surprise, however, stands in the drop among Black voters compared with President Joe Biden. In 2020, he was backed by 92 percent of Black voters and 59 percent of Latino voters.

The Trump campaign has continued to reach out to Latino voters. Trump spoke with Lation leaders at the Trump National Doral on Tuesday.

“With President Trump, the Latino community has a champion committed to tearing down the barriers preventing minorities from achieving the American Dream. In stark contrast, Harris has utterly failed them–failed to secure their neighborhoods, failed to raise real wages, and failed to bring down record high prices. Under President Trump’s leadership, the Hispanic community thrived,” his campaign wrote in a statement ahead of the event.

“They saw record-low unemployment, record-high homeownership, and the lowest poverty rates in history. For the first time ever, median real income for Hispanic households soared past $50,000. Nearly 350,000 Hispanic Americans were lifted out of poverty, and real wages for Hispanic men grew by 3.9 percent. Under Trump, Latino household wealth skyrocketed by an astounding 65 percent,” it added.

The Trump campaign expects the Latino community to show up in record numbers for Trump in early voting and on Election Day.

Vianca Rodriguez, the Deputy Director of Hispanic Communications for the Trump campaign and the RNC, recently shared why more Latino voters are turning to Trump in 2024.

“On the issues that matter most to Hispanic communities, such as the economy, immigration and border security, President Trump is taking the lead. This positions him in stark contrast to ‘Que Mala’ Kamala Harris, whose radically dangerous agenda continues to raise alarm bells,” she wrote.
