While the border crisis crackdown continues, President Donald Trump is working to combat another serious crisis: Social Security depletion.
On Tuesday, he signed a Memorandum to prevent illegal aliens from receiving Social Security benefits. The memorandum declared it would “Ensure ineligible aliens are not receiving funds from Social Security Act programs.”
The Memorandum orders the expansion of the Social Security Administration’s (SSA’s) fraud prosecutor program to 50 U.S. attorney offices and creates a fraud prosecution program for Medicare and Medicaid abusers.
“The surge in illegal immigration caused by the previous Administration is siphoning dollars and essential services from American citizens while state and local budgets grow increasingly strained,” it added. “Biden oversaw a sharp increase in the number of immigrants given Social Security Numbers (SSNs), with more than 2 million illegal aliens assigned SSNs in fiscal year 2024 alone.”
This action noted that the border is closed and no illegal aliens will be receiving incentives to unlawfully enter the United States.
The Memorandum was sparked by the Department of Government Efficiency’s discovery that illegal aliens were receiving Social Security numbers from the Biden administration after illegally crossing if they applied for asylum before their asylum status was approved, via The Heritage Foundation.
According to the Pew Research Center, the Biden administration removed border protection policies implemented by President Trump during his first term, a move that continued questionable immigration policies instituted during Biden’s time as Vice President under President Barack Obama.
In November of 2014, the Associated Press reported that Obama signed an Executive Order granting Social Security and Medicaid benefits to illegal aliens who applied for work permits, thus paving the way for the Social Security issues President Trump is now working to address.
