A new poll from Clarity Campaign shows President Donald Trump is winning yet again with a whopping 45-point lead over his waning potential rival, Governor Ron DeSantis, R-Fla.
According to their data, in a hypothetical 2024 Republican primary, President Trump garnered 65 percent of Republican primary voters’ support against Gov. DeSantis’s 20 percent, giving Trump one of his biggest leads in a primary poll to date.
In the same poll, Former Vice President Mike Pence earned 4 percent of the vote, while declared GOP presidential candidate and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley also snagged 4 percent.
Among the GOP, only a small handful of conservatives have announced their candidacy so far, including President Trump, Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, and Larry Elder.
Per Politico, Elder, who ran a gubernatorial campaign against Governor Gavin Newsom, D-Calif., in 2021, wrote on Twitter regarding his announcement, “We can enter a new American Golden Age, but we must choose a leader who can bring us there. That’s why I’m running for President.”
Trump’s commanding lead over the field of potential and official 2024 candidates for the 2024 GOP nomination has solidified over the last few months. Last week, Trump told Republicans at the Lee County GOP dinner in Florida that he had received “1.2 million more votes than your successful governor’s campaign.”
Polymarket’s newest betting odds also displayed an all-time high in President Trump’s favor, with the president at 62 percent to DeSantis’s 24 percent.
On Sunday, Trump commented on Truth Social that DeSantis’s “poll numbers are crashing.” He wrote, “Florida has the Sun & the Ocean, and was GREAT long before I put Ron there. The semi-elite ‘No Growthers’ are considering sending Ron to the great Walter Reed Medical Center for an emergency personality transplant.”
