President Donald Trump is leading Vice President Kamala Harris by two points in Wisconsin.

The Quinnipiac poll, traditionally biased toward Democrats, revealed the news in a state considered essential for Harris to win in order to secure enough Electoral College votes for a victory.

“In Wisconsin, 48 percent of likely voters support Trump, 46 percent support Harris, and Green Party candidate Jill Stein and Libertarian Party candidate Chase Oliver each receive 1 percent support,” a Quinnipiac poll news release stated.

“This compares to September when Harris received 48 percent support, Trump received 47 percent support, and Stein received 1 percent support,” it continued.

The study also noted that Independent voters in the state are divided, with Trump leading but still within the poll’s margin of error.

“In today’s poll, Republicans 95 – 4 percent support Trump, while Democrats 98 – 2 percent support Harris. Independents are split, with 47 percent supporting Trump, 43 percent supporting Harris, and 3 percent supporting third-party candidates (2 percent support Stein and 1 percent support Oliver),” Quinnipiac stated on Wednesday.

“In a hypothetical two-way race, Trump receives 49 percent support and Harris receives 47 percent support,” it noted.

A separate no-toss up map based on national averages from polls compiled by RealClearPolitics.com (RCP) shows Trump with 296 electoral votes and Harris with 242. The total is based on Harris winning Wisconsin based on a wide variety of recent polls.

The RCP model shows Trump winning five of seven swing states, including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. The model shows Harris winning Nevada and Wisconsin.

An ActiVote poll taken Oct. 3-8 also shows Trump taking a 1.2 point advantage over Harris. The latest poll reveals Trump overcoming a Harris lead of 5.4 points less than one month ago.

“Harris’ poll numbers improved steadily for about 3-4 weeks after Biden dropped out, followed by a period of 2 weeks where it hovered around a 5-point lead, which came down to a 2-3% lead around Labor day, and stayed there for a while, before starting a steady climb post the September 10 debate,” ActiVote reported.

“Since then her overall numbers have slowly deteriorated to now a 1% lead for the former president,” it added.
