President Donald Trump spoke Tuesday evening at the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) dinner, speaking about the future of the GOP and disclosing a shockingly positive development in terms of the effects of his tariffs.
The president thanked those in attendance on Tuesday and opened almost immediately by sharing something incredible about the effect his tariffs are having on the economy right now. “We’re making a fortune with tariffs – $2 billion a day,” he said.
Trump continued, “I get hit by the press about tariffs…this isn’t $35 million, that’s peanuts. $2 BILLION a day!”
He noted about the media’s sinister narrative against his tariff system: “Only the enemy can be talking this way.”
Trump added that there were a lot of countries “coming to see us that want to make a deal.”
He also looked ahead to the future of the Republican Party and envisioned a series of election victories for the upcoming 2026 midterm elections. “We’re going to win the midterm elections and we’re going to have a tremendous landslide,” he said.
Trump also took a sledgehammer to the reputation of the Democrat Party, stating that they had “lost their confidence” and urged Republicans to “fight like hell” to win elections and then vote accordingly.
“2026 Republicans will fight for every state, every seat, and every vote,” he said. “…I intend to personally campaign for candidates all across the country…We won’t just keep our majorities, we want to expand our majorities by a lot.”
The president also said that for the Democrats, their lost confidence was a serious hindrance. “It’s a hard thing when you lose your confidence,” he remarked. “…They’ve taken a lot of beatings.”
Trump continued, “The Democrats are a broken party with bad policy. They’ve lost so much, both as politicians and as people…the stage is set for a monumental victory for Republicans in the midterms.”
