School choice and parental rights advocate Linda McMahon has been chosen for Secretary of Education by President Donald Trump.
He posted his nomination to Truth Social Tuesday night, stating, “For the past four years, as the Chair of the Board at the America First Policy Institute (AFPI), Linda has been a fierce advocate for Parents’ Rights, working hard at both AFPI and America First Work (AFW) to achieve Universal School Choice in 12 states, giving children the opportunity to receive an excellent Education, regardless of zip code or income.”
Trump added that McMahon “will fight tirelessly to expand ‘Choice’ in every State in America, and empower parents to make the best Education decisions for their families.
From her work serving on the Connecticut Board of Education to serving on the Board of Trustees at Connecticut’s Sacred Heart University, McMahon has a broad range of experience.
Last month, she posted a picture of herself meeting with other AFPI members and the national parental rights organization Moms for Liberty in Guilford County, North Carolina, on X. She wrote that they were, “Uniting Voices – Strengthening Communities – Advocating for Parental Rights and Educational Freedom.”
Most recently she shared her support for alternative education options like apprenticeships.
She stated, “Apprenticeship Programs are a pathway to successful careers. Switzerland provides a model the rest of the world can adapt. They employ Apprentices in 230 Occupations and most of their CEOs were Apprentices.”
According to the AP News, McMahon has entertained a lifelong education interest and originally wished to become a teacher but her goals shifted after she got married. Now she will be directing the nation through its education journey.
