Trump to launch ‘TRUTH Social’ app in February

President Trump is slated to release his new social media platform in February 2022, according to Reuters. The Apple Store shows that the app will be available for purchase on the 21st of the month.

Donald Trump Jr. explained on Fox News’ Hannity that TRUTH Social will be a platform for free speech and expression of beliefs.

The Twitter alternative comes a little over a year after the president was banned from all social media platforms for allegedly inciting violence on Jan. 6 during the Capitol protests.

Reuters reports that the app will be very similar to the layout of Twitter, saying that it will have a trending topics area, and allow people to follow each other. However, instead of hitting “tweet” when sending a statement, users will press “truth.”

There is reportedly going to be three stages to the Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) release: first the app release, then an on-demand subscription to videos and entertainment, and other news. Their website indicates plans to eventually have a podcast network, as well.

The app is bound to be a wild success from the right side of the aisle, since Republicans overwhelmingly support President Trump’s endeavors.

When it was announced in October that Digital World Acquisition Corp. would be merging with TMTG, its stock rose from $10 per share to $175 per share.

After Reuters reported the release date for the social media platform, the stock in TMTG rose 20 percent. TMTG is currently valued at around $5.8 billion and has raised $1 billion from private investors.

TRUTH Social, the president’s Twitter alternative, is currently available for pre-order, before the app officially launches in February.
