President Donald Trump urged Americans this week in the great state of Louisiana to cast their votes for Republican candidates in Saturday’s state runoff elections, where Republican nominees Liz Murrill, John Fleming, and Nancy Landry will be up for the positions of attorney general, state treasurer, and secretary of state, respectively.
Trump explained on Truth Social, “Our Republican Nominees, Liz Murrill for Attorney General, John Fleming for Treasurer, and Nancy Landry for Secretary of State, are outstanding in every way and have my Complete and Total Endorsement.”
Liz Murrill is currently serving as the Louisiana State Solicitor General. John Fleming has also been on the political scene for years, describing himself as a “businessman, military vet, physician, former congressman and advisor to the President of the U.SA.”
For reference, he served as a White House Senior Advisor to President Donald Trump in 2020.
Nancy Landry is the First Assistant Secretary of State in Louisiana and formerly served as a state representative.
President Trump pointed out that his endorsement aided Jeff Landry’s big win in the state’s gubernatorial election earlier this year. He wrote that now-Governor-Elect Jeff Landry, R-La., “made history by flipping the seat of Louisiana’s 2-term Democrat Governor without a runoff – Jeff will be a great Governor!”
Politico reported in October that Landry won with 52 percent of the vote, avoiding a runoff election in the all-party primary and becoming the fourth Republican elected as governor since Reconstruction in the South.
In Louisiana, if a candidate wins a simple majority of votes in the all-party primary (more than 50 percent), that candidate wins the race without having to advance to a runoff.
“We need Republican Leadership in the Great State of Louisiana, so please Get Out and Vote Republican on Saturday!” Trump urged.
