The case against President Donald Trump in New York faces a mistrial. The 45th president’s spokeswoman, Liz Harrington, posted to X on Wednesday, noting that the Trump legal team has filed a motion for mistrial.
The preliminary statement notes, “There can be no doubt of the public perception of bias in this case…only the grant of a mistrial can salvage what is left of the rule of law.”
It described the current gag order placed on President Trump as “unconstitutional” and also stated that “sunlight is the best disinfectant.”
The statement noted Judge Arthur Engoron’s negative public comments about President Trump and unlawful “co-judging” practices being utilized in this case.
Further, the Principal Law Clerk’s contributions to organizations that oppose Trump are also mentioned.
The document states, “More troubling than even the fact of these contributions exceeding lawful limits, many (if not all) of these organizations *actively support the Attorney General!*”
The court is called out for allegedly exemplifying “bias” and tainting legal proceedings after it was stated that although President Trump is on trial, members of the judicial system are “not here to hear what [President Trump] has to say.”
