President Donald Trump arrived in Washinton, D.C., late Wednesday to meet with Republican senators and House leaders to talk legislative strategy ahead of his Jan. 20 inauguration.

Trump’s visit marked his first time inside the U.S. Capitol Building since four years ago

“We’re looking at the one bill versus two bills, and whatever it is, it doesn’t matter,” Trump said. “We’re going to get the result.”

The president-elect’s visit also includes plan to attend the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter. Jan. 9 marks a national day of mourning as both Trump and First Lady Melania Trump are expected to attend.

The president and first lady also came Wednesday to the Capitol Rotunda to pay their respects as the 39th president lay in state ahead of his funeral Thursday in the nation’s capital. The funeral will be held at Washington National Cathedral.

Carter lived longer than any president in U.S. history. He died Dec. 29 at the age of 100.

As RSBN previously reported, President Donald Trump also released statements following Carter’s passing.

“I just heard of the news about the passing of President Jimmy Carter. Those of us who have been fortunate to have served as President understand this is a very exclusive club, and only we can relate to the enormous responsibility of leading the Greatest Nation in History,” Trump wrote on Sunday.

“The challenges Jimmy faced as President came at a pivotal time for our country and he did everything in his power to improve the lives of all Americans. For that, we all owe him a debt of gratitude,” he added. “Melania and I are thinking warmly of the Carter Family and their loved ones during this difficult time. We urge everyone to keep them in their hearts and prayers.”

Trump previously met with President Joe Biden in the White House in November in Washington following his election victory.

“And looking forward to having a, like we said, smooth transition — do everything we can to make sure you’re accommodated, what you need.  And we’re going to get a chance to talk about some of that today.  So — welcome. Welcome back,” Biden said.
