President Donald Trump said Thursday that he will choose a Cabinet member dedicated to reducing the cost of living for Americans.

Trump revealed the announcement during his rally in Albuquerque, New Mexico, addressing high-rising inflation under the Biden-Harris administration.

“I will create a new Cabinet position for a senior member of my administration who will be tasked exclusively with doing everything in the federal government’s power to reduce the cost of living,” Trump said.

“I’m announcing today a new step that I’ll take to get emergency price relief to all Americans,” he added. “On day one, I will sign an executive order directing every federal agency to immediately remove every single burdensome regulation driving up the cost of goods.”

Trump did not disclose who he would choose for the position.

SpaceX owner Elon Musk previously suggested that he could help Trump cut wasteful government spending.

“How much do you think we can rip out of this wasted $6.5 trillion Harris-Biden budget?” Musk was asked on stage.

“Well, I think we can do at least $2 trillion,” Musk said. “I mean, at the end of the day, you’re being taxed. You’re being taxed. All government spending is taxation. So whether it’s direct taxation or — all government spending, either it becomes inflation or it’s direct taxation — your money is being wasted, and the Department of Government Efficiency is going to fix that.”

“We’re going to get the government off your back and out of your pocketbook,” he said.

He continued, “America is not just going to be great. America is going to reach heights that it has never seen before. The future is going to be amazing.”

Trump also mentioned Musk’s role in helping cut government spending during a Fox News interview two weeks ago.

“He wants to be in charge of cost-cutting,” Trump said in the interview. “We’ll have a new position, secretary of cost-cutting, okay? Elon wants to do that. He’s running a big business. He can’t just say, I think I’ll go into the Cabinet. Other people can, he can’t.”
