President Donald Trump hosted a special screening of the smash-hit film, “Sound of Freedom” at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, on Wednesday evening, praising the film’s star Jim Caviezel and producer Eduardo Verastegui.
Trump delivered remarks to a star-studded audience after the screening, where he sat front row and center to watch the film for the first time.
“I just wanted to thank you all, that was unbelievable acting,” he told the stars. “And Tim, what a job you did.”
He was referring to Tim Ballard, the character upon whom the film is based. Ballard founded Operation Underground Railroad, which now works to rescue children from human traffickers across the globe.
“Sound of Freedom” has become renowned for its anti-sex trafficking message, and in the process, has soared to success at the box office. According to the Washington Examiner, the film surpassed over $100 million in box office sales, via ticket sale information from the distributor of the film, Angel Studios.
Trump noted that the subject movie of the film was heavy, commenting that it was “something that I’m not sure if you’re supposed to enjoy or learn – it’s a combination.”
He added that after watching the movie, “I now understand WHY it’s doing so well. It’s setting records, by the way. It’s [beating] some of the biggest movies out – summer blockbusters; it’s knocking the socks off of them, so that’s pretty good.”
Per RSBN, Tim Ballard addressed leftist media criticism of the film, which has accused the movie of peddling “Qanon” conspiracy theories and catering to the “far right.”
He told Fox News, “I think that the left—these media outlets—they don’t want to have a discussion that this film is going to compel. A discussion about why 85,000 children showed up unaccompanied at the border and got released into the interior of a country that is the highest consuming country for child exploitation material on the planet.”
