President Donald Trump called out Democrat lawmakers last week for “again” attempting to removed President Joe Biden from the 2024 presidential ticket as a growing list continues to call for Biden to step down as the nominee.
Trump stated on Truth Social that an “unprecedented event is happening” by Democrats “trying, again to get Biden off the ballot.”
Democratic lawmakers and pundits began to circulate ideas of wanting Biden to step aside as their party’s nominee following his poor debate performance against Trump in June. During the event, Biden could noticeably be heard struggling to finish his statements and even freezing mid-statement during an answer.

A list of congressional Democrats calling for Biden’s resignation began to build in early July after Texas Rep. Lloyd Doggett became the first to publicly call for the president to step aside in the 2024 race, according to the New York Post. The latest top Democratic House member, Adam Schiff of California, came forward Wednesday to tell the Los Angeles Times about his decision to speak publicly against Biden.
“A second Trump presidency will undermine the very foundation of our democracy, and I have serious concerns about whether the President can defeat Donald Trump in November,” Schiff told the outlet while adding he believes it’s time for Biden to “pass the torch.”
Beside lawmakers, Democratic National Committee (DNC) member James Zogby submitted a letter to leaders of the committee in early July, laying out a plan for how the party could nominate a new leader at the upcoming Democratic National Convention in August, The Nation reported.
Biden and his officials, however, have turned down the calls for him to end his campaign, as Biden told MSNBC in an interview that the lawmakers challenging him can “run against” him at the party’s convention.
