President Donald J. Trump has weighed in on the big news of Twitter’s possible acquisition by Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk.

The 45th president shared his thoughts in a post on his own social media website, Truth Social: “There is no way Elon Musk is going to buy Twitter at such a ridiculous price, especially since realizing that it is a company largely based on BOTS or Spam Accounts. Fake anyone?”

On Friday, Musk announced that his Twitter deal was “temporarily on hold pending details supporting calculation that spam/fake accounts do indeed represent less than 5% of users.” According to Reuters, Twitter reported last week that less than five percent of its accounts were spam or bot accounts.

However, Musk appears committed to discovering what that number actually is before he officially acquires the company for a staggering $44 billion. “To find out,” Musk continued on Twitter, “my team will do a random sample of 100 followers of @twitter. I invite others to repeat the same process and see what they discover…”

Interestingly, President Trump has opted to stay on Truth Social despite Musk’s previous statement that he would reverse Twitter’s ban on the president.

“By the time you get rid of them [spam accounts],” Trump continued in his statement, “if that can even be done, what do you have? Not much? If it weren’t for the Billion Dollar breakup fee, Elon would have already been long gone.”

However, Musk also added on Twitter: “Still committed to acquisition.”

“The bots are angry at being counted,” he added several hours later.

It remains to be seen if or how Musk’s examination of spam and bot accounts on Twitter will affect his acquisition of the social media platform. “Just my opinion,” President Trump concluded, “but Truth Social is MUCH better than Twitter and is absolutely exploding, incredible engagement!”
