President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social account to highlight that he won more votes than any Republican president in history in the 2024 popular vote.

Trump posted a link to a report from the New York Post that compared his voting totals with past Republicans, with the 47th president-elect surpassing former President Ronald Reagan’s blowout total.

“THANK YOU GOD! WON ALL SWING STATES, & THE POPULAR VOTE BY ALMOST 7 MILLION VOTERS. GOT 312 ELECTORAL VOTES. IN THE GREAT STATE OF TEXAS, WON 31 OF 32 STATEWIDE JUDICIAL BENCHES, AND EVERY COUNTY IN THE RIO GRANDE VALLEY. THEY WERE ALL BLUE 8 YEARS AGO, & GOT ONE MILLION MORE TEXAS VOTES THAN IN 2020!” Trump posted on Sunday.

As the Post reported, Trump has over 74,650,000 votes as of Sunday morning, passing his total during the 2020 election. In 2020, he received 72,224,000 votes.

“At the moment, that puts the incoming president ahead of Vice President Kamala Harris’ 70.9 million votes — though there is still a large swath of votes uncounted, including in California, which has an estimated 66% of the vote tabulated,” the account stated.

“Other states, including Alaska, Arizona, Maryland, Oregon and Utah, still have outstanding votes. Roughly 5 million votes are estimated to be left outstanding,” it continued.

Reagan received 54 votes in his 1984 win for a second term against Walter Mondale. The U.S. population, however, had 100 million fewer people at the time.

President Joe Biden received 81.3 million votes in the controversial 2020 election, making it the highest total ever for a presidential candidate.

The U.S. election is determined by electoral votes representing each state. Trump is projected to win 312 electoral votes, far more than the required 270 to become president.

RSBN projected Trump to win early Wednesday morning after Pennsylvania was called for Trump and Alaska was projected for him, giving him the electoral votes needed to declare victory.

Trump won 304 electoral votes in the 2016 election, indicating a bigger win in 2024. Republicans have also won a majority in the Senate and likely the House, though some races have yet to be called.
