President Donald Trump’s mass deportation plans are moving forward with momentum as the Pentagon announced that the Department of Defense will provide military airlift support as the Department of Homeland Security carries out mass deportation of illegal immigrants.
Throughout his campaign, President Trump vowed to solve the historic border crisis, and within hours of taking office, he signed executive orders declaring a national emergency along the southern border and began cracking down on immigration.
On Wednesday, Breitbart reported that the Department of Defense ordered around 1,500 active duty service members to be deployed at the southern border wall as President Trump’s mass deportation push goes underway. The active duty forces will join the 2,500 U.S. National Guard and Reserve forces that are already there.
The airlift support troops will fly helicopters to assist Border Patrol agents, help with the construction of barriers, and provide deportation flights for more than 5,000 detained migrants.
Breitbart reported that a senior military official said that this deployment of troops will “provide real-time situational awareness of persons, vehicles, vessels, and aircraft; and they’ll work with [U.S. Customs and Border Protection] on operator-level maintenance, movement, and staging of [CBP] assets.”
But this deployment of troops is just the beginning. According to The Hill, Defense Secretary Robert Salesses explained, “In short order, the Department will develop and execute additional missions in cooperation with DHS, federal agencies, and state partners to address the full range of threats outlined by the president at our nation’s borders.”
The Hill reported that White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt praised President Trump for his swift actions. Leavitt said, “This is something President Trump campaigned on, the American people have [been] waiting for such a time as this, for our Department of Defense to actually take homeland security seriously,” and added, “This is a number one priority of the American people, and the president has already delivered.”
President Trump continues to crack down on illegal immigration by reinstating the Remain in Mexico policy. RSBN reported that this policy, officially called the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), was reinstated on his second day in office and requires certain individuals to remain in Mexico until they are legally approved to enter.
