Vice President JD Vance is set to make his first official speech at the annual National March for Life on Friday after being sworn in as vice president this week.
The march will start at the Washington Monument and will also have speakers, including Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, pro-surfer Bethany Hamilton and Republican New Jersey Rep. Chris Smith.
In a press release, Jeanne Mancini, president of the March for Life, wrote, “We are thrilled that Vice President Vance has chosen the National March for Life for his first public appearance in his new role – a sign of his commitment to standing up for life.” Mancini also added, “We look forward to working with him [President Trump] and Vice President Vance as they dismantle the Biden Administration’s aggressive and unpopular abortion agenda and once again put wins on the board for vulnerable unborn children and their mothers.”
The pro-life event was also a special time for President Trump as he was the first president to ever speak at this event back in 2019. Mancini reflected on this, “President Trump governed as a pro-life president during his first term, which resulted in a long list of accomplishments.”
The Daily Wire shared what President Trump said, which is still relevant now. He said, “From the first day in office, I’ve taken a historic action to support America’s families and to protect the unborn,” he added, “I notified Congress that I would veto any legislation that weakens pro-life policies or that encourages the destruction of human life.” President Trump made it clear, “Unborn children have never had a stronger defender in the White House,” and they still do.
According to The Daily Wire, the announcement of Vance’s address at the pro-life event comes after President Trump is set to pardon imprisoned pro-life activists who were arrested over protests at abortion clinics in New York, Tennessee, and Washington, D.C.
The Thomas More Society, a Catholic law firm, formally petitioned for the 21 pro-life activists to be pardoned. The Catholic News Agency reported what the petition read, “These peaceful pro-life Americans mistreated by [President Joe] Biden include grandparents, pastors, a Holocaust survivor, and a Catholic priest — all are selfless, sincere patriots.”
