President Trump’s Truth Social surpassed Twitter in the App Store and maintained the #1 spot for hours, despite the purchase of Twitter by Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
Truth Social’s partnership with YouTube competitor Rumble could help the two grow together and challenge other Big Tech giants who conservatives view as biased against them.
Rumble celebrated Truth Social’s success when the company tweeted, “Rumble just passed 500k followers on Truth and our cloud services are humming. Congrats on Truth on being #1 in the App Store, ahead of Twitter.”
Truth Social fans received more good news this past weekend when President Trump announced at his Ohio rally that the platform is “open and ready to go.”
Trump added, “Our team’s working around the clock…Big Tech has banned so many Americans; there’s nobody left to ban!”
Counterintuitively to some, Truth Social has seen an uptick in demand since the news broke that Elon Musk was likely to purchase Twitter.
According to Sensor Tower, Truth Social has seen approximately 1.4 million installs from the Apple App store, including an increase over the weekend of 60,000 installs. That is six times the number of app installs from the previous weekend.
It was the most daily installs Truth Social had seen since the end of February when it launched.
Truth Social fans received more good news this week when President Trump informed Fox News that “I am not going on Twitter, I am going to stay on Truth.”
However, Trump had kind words for Musk, saying that he believes Musk will “make improvements to it and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on TRUTH.”
Trump added, “we’re taking in millions of people. And what we’re finding is that the response Truth is much better than being on Twitter.”
Trump said that he would officially join Truth Social within the week.
