In a recent interview on Fox Business, Trump Media and Technology Group CEO Devin Nunes discussed the latest news involving President Trump’s new social media platform, Truth Social.
According to Nunes, Truth Social has been open for just over one week, and engagement has been good. He said some content creators had gained more followers on Trump’s platform than Instagram.
Nunes indicated that the platform’s primary focus going forward is incorporating the best aspects of Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, each of which has hundreds of millions of users and brings those features to Truth Social.
Nunes noted that Truth Social, unlike other social media platforms, could not be canceled because it was created from the ground up without using any “Big Tech.” Therefore, while the platform is currently available on Apple, Nunes noted that a web application would be available by the end of this month, which would open the platform to all web users.
When asked about Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover and its potential impact on Truth Social, Nunes was not concerned and noted that he supported Musk’s efforts.
According to Nunes:
“Donald Trump wanted to make sure that the American people got their voice back and that the internet was open.”
“So people like Elon Musk doing what he’s doing, we’re definitely in favor of it,” That’s why we encouraged Elon Musk to buy it, because someone has to continue to take on these tech tyrants.”
The TMTG CEO added that the company’s goal is to “build a community where people are in a family-friendly, safe environment.” Considering these plans, Truth Social will likely grow much larger in the not-too-distant future.
